The annual diabetes conference by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be held in Kansas City this year, state health officials announced Friday.
The conference is scheduled for April 13 through 16 at the Westin Crown Center Hotel, 1 E. Pershing Road in Kansas City, Mo.
The conference brings together local, state and federal officials and other interested in preventing and controlling diabetes.
Among the topics scheduled for discussion:
- How community-based prevention programs are growing from research into reality.
- The implications of new diabetes screening guidelines from the American Diabetes Association.
The various speakers will include: Dr. Deneen Vojta, senior vice president of the UnitedHealth Center for Health Reform and Modernization and UnitedHealth International and Jonathan Lever, national director of Activate America at YMCA of the USA; and Ursuala Bauer, director of the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
The registration fee is $300 for individuals and $800 for exhibitors.
