Chronic disease summit scheduled

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment will host its annual Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Summit here next month.

The two-day event is scheduled for Feb. 2 and 3 at the Holiday Inn (map). It is geared toward local health department officials and their community partners, said Paula Clayton, director of KDHE’s Bureau of Health Promotion.

She said sessions will focus on the leading risk factors for chronic disease: tobacco use, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition.

“All of those are significant risk factors for heart disease, cancer, complications of arthritis, diabetes, you name it,” Clayton said.

The registration form and a conference schedule can be found at ks.train.org.
