Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Dr. Robert Moser has tapped Assistant Secretary Kari Bruffett to be head of the agency’s Health Care Finance Division. Dr. Susan Mosier, a state representative from Manhattan, will become the Kansas Medicaid director.
Bruffett had been filling in for Andy Allison who recently left as director of the finance division to take charge of the Arkansas Medicaid program. For the past 12 months she has been the agency’s assistant secretary for policy and external affairs. She became interim head of the finance division after Allison stepped down Nov. 23.
Mosier will replace Barb Langner who last month left as Kansas Medicaid director for a job as policy director at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Mosier is slated to begin the job on March 1.
Mosier, a Manhattan opthalmologist, currently serves in the Kansas House representing District 67. It wasn’t immediately clear when she would resign her House seat.
In other staff changes announced late Thursday, Mark Dugan, chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer, will become KDHE’s assistant secretary for Policy and External Affairs, the post previously held by Bruffett.
Dugan will also continue as Colyer’s chief of staff, Moser said.
