Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department officials announced that Dan Partridge will become the department”s new director.
Partridge is currently an administrative services supervisor for the Reno County Health Department in Hutchinson. He will replace outgoing director Kay Kent, who is retiring after 33 years with the department.
The Lawrence Journal-World reported that Partridge was one of three finalists for the job after a search committee reviewed applications from 25 candidates.
Partridge worked for the Reno County Health Department for more than 15 years and supervised the environmental health program and the county”s Fatherhood Project. He also worked with tobacco control and child care licensing programs.
He is a 2004 graduate of the Kansas Public Health Leadership Institute and a 2002 graduate of the KU Public Management Center”s Public Health Certificate program. In May, he is scheduled to receive a master”s degree in public health from the University of Kansas” School of Medicine in Wichita.
Partridge”s first day on the job will be Jan. 16.
