Leawood banker named to KU Hospital Authority

A Leawood banker has been appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to the University of Kansas Hospital Authority board.

Robert Regnier, president and CEO of Blue Valley Ban Corp and the Bank of Blue Valley, will replace Eric Jager, an investment firm executive from Mission Hills whose term expired March 15, 2005 but was carried over. Regnier”s term will expire March 15, 2009.

According to the governor”s office, Regnier graduated from Kansas State University in 1970 with a degree in economics before earning his master”s degree in finance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Regnier worked for Boatmen”s First National Bank nearly two decades, becoming an executive vice president in 1982. He left in 1989 to assume his current role as chairman, president and CEO of Blue Valley Ban Corp and the Bank of Blue Valley.
He and his wife, Ann McKee, have three grown children.

Regnier also is a member of the Johnson County Community College Foundation Board; the University of Kansas Edward”s Campus Board of Advisors and other civic organizations.

“Robert”s strong ties to his community and experience in managing large organizations will be strong assets to this board,” Sebelius said in a prepared statement. “His expertise will assist the board in bringing resources to the KU Hospital to help train more doctors and offer a diverse clinical training experience while continuing to make Kansas a destination for medical students and new physicians.”

His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

The University of Kansas Hospital Authority is the public overseer of the hospital at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
