New report on Kansas hospital stats released

Currently, 31 percent of Kansas community hospitals have a fitness center. Nearly 61 percent provide breast cancer screening and almost 17 percent offer psychiatric care. More than 21 percent of the community hospitals in Kansas offer a tobacco cessation program.

As of October, there were 126 Kansas community hospitals; 97 of which were certified for “swing beds” or beds licensed for either acute or long-term care.

These and other statistics can be found in the newly released “Stat Report for 2006” by the Kansas Hospital Association. The report includes a rundown on issues facing the state”s hospitals and information about demographics and trends facing the industry.
