Officials step up frequency of KanCare conference calls

State officials are stepping up the frequency of their “rapid response” conference calls for troubleshooting issues raised by Medicaid providers and others affected by the transition to KanCare.

Starting April 2, the calls will be held three times instead of once a week.

The calls will be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. To join the call, dial (877) 247-8650 and use ID code 79687456.

Officials also announced that the time for the Mar. 28 conference call would be lengthened by 30 minutes, running from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

KanCare is the name given Gov. Sam Brownback’s initiative to move virtually all of the state’s 380,000 Medicaid enrollees into managed care plans run by three major insurance companies: United HealthCare, Amerigroup and Sunflower State Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene.

KanCare members who were enrolled as of Jan. 1 have until April 4 to switch to one of the other two health plans, if they prefer. The three KanCare companies are Amerigroup, UnitedHealthcare and Sunflower State Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene.
