Praeger chosen president-elect of NAIC

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has been elected president-elect of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Alabama Insurance Commissioner Walter Bell was named president at the group”s winter meeting here last week.

Praeger, a Republican, was elected Kansas’ commissioner in 2002, and was re-elected this year.

She is on the NAIC executive committee and is chair of the organization”s long-term care working group and its information systems task force. She is vice chair of the life and health actuarial task force, and serves on the life insurance and annuities and the health insurance and managed care committees, as well as the NAIC/consumer liaison committee and the NAIC/industry liaison committee.

Praeger previously served three terms in the Kansas Senate and one term in the Kansas House. She also has served as mayor of Lawrence and as a member of the Lawrence City Commission.
