A search committee trying to find a replacement for the executive director of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts is scheduled to meet next week.
Jack Confer, former head of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, abruptly resigned last month for undisclosed reasons.
Confer had been on the job a little more than a year after being brought in to help stabilize an agency that had drawn sharp criticism from state legislators and the public for its failures to adequately police the medical professions.
Larry Buening, Confer’s predecessor, and Mark Stafford, the agency’s top attorney, resigned and Confer’s arrival from a similar agency in Arizona brought a wave of other personnel changes.
The board, which regulates doctors, dentists and a broad array of other medical professionals, has appointed Kathleen Selzler Lippert as temporary director until Confer’s replacement is hired.
The board’s executive search committee is scheduled to meet at noon on Dec. 4 in the board’s offices at 235 SW Topeka Blvd. in Topeka.
