U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will deliver a Landon Lecture at 10:30 a.m. today at McCain Auditorium on the Kansas State University campus.
Her speech also will be available via webcast.

“Since taking office in April 2009, Secretary Sebelius has been a leader on some of President Obama’s top priorities, including the implementation of the historic Affordable Care Act,” said Jackie Hartman, chairwoman of the Landon Lecture Series and director of community relations at KSU. “She also has been working with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on building a 21st-century food safety system, which is an important area of emphasis and research at K-State.”
The Landon Lecture Series is named for Alfred M. Landon, Kansas governor during much of the Great Depression. Landon, a Republican, ran for president in 1936, losing to then-incumbent Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Landon delivered the first Landon Lecture in 1966. Subsequent speakers have included presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, and Richard Nixon.
