The governor has named Karen Braman and Frank Whitchurch to the State Board of Pharmacy.
“Kansans rely on their pharmacists to provide safe medicines as prescribed by their doctors.
By ensuring pharmacists are well-qualified, this board will help protect the health of Kansans,” Gov. Kathleen Sebelius said in a prepared statement Wednesday.
The board licenses and registers pharmacists and pharmacies and protects against unprofessional, improper and unauthorized practice of pharmacy.
Braman, of Lawrence, received her bachelor”s and master”s degrees in pharmacy from the University of Kansas, graduating with the latter in 1993. She is director of pharmacy services for Preferred Health Systems.
Prior to joining Preferred Health Systems earlier this year, Braman worked on health care issues for the Kansas Health Policy Authority and several other state agencies beginning in 1996.
Whitchurch, of Kansas City, has more than three decades experience in the field.
He earned his bachelor”s degree in pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1970.
In 1986, he began working for Osco Drug at pharmacies in Kansas and Missouri, managing pharmacies and overseeing training. He is the manager of pharmacy operations for Prescription Solutions in Overland Park.
Both were appointed to a three-year term.
