Specialty hospital report to be presented to Kansas Health Policy Authority

TOPEKA, Dec. 11 Kansas and a handful of other states have a disproportionate number of the nation”s new type of specialty hospitals.

A Kansas Health Institute report by Sheldon Weisgrau, senior policy analyst, examines the issues surrounding the growth of the “focused factory” hospitals and what they might mean for the state”s general hospitals in urban and rural areas.

The report, “Specialty Hospitals in Kansas: An Unfolding Story,” will be made public Tuesday during a meeting of the Kansas Health Policy Authority. The meeting is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Capitol Plaza, Emerald Rooms IV and V, 1717 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka. The report will be presented during the public comment portion of the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
