“Relaying the importance of fatherhood is one of Siedlecki’s goals as SRS secretary,” agency officials said in a prepared statement.

“They say anyone can become a father, but it takes a really special man to be a dad,” Siedlecki said.

The event is from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Holiday Inn in Lawrence, 200 McDonald Dr.

Siedlecki is scheduled to speak about 10:15 a.m.

Also scheduled to speak is Charles Smith of Kansas State University Research and Extension.

The Friday speeches cap a week of events scheduled by the Dad Days group in anticipation of Father’s Day, which is Sunday.

The event is free and open to the public.

Today, Siedlecki is touring SRS offices in Leavenworth and Hiawatha.
