Vogel to retire from Health and Human Services

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 19

Linda Vogel, regional health administrator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service”s Region 7, will retire Jan. 3.

“It has been a pleasure to work with so many very fine people and organizations who truly care about people and public health,” she wrote in a letter to colleagues.

Vogel worked for the department more than 39 years. She plans to remain in Kansas City and continue to work in the public health field.

Rear Adm. John T. Babb, an assistant surgeon general who now serves as director of the Office of Force Readiness in the Office of the Surgeon General, will replace Vogel.

Babb is also the acting chief pharmacist officer for the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and director of the national Medical Reserve Corps program.

Region 7 is based in Kansas City, Mo. and serves Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska.
